I just read the Archie comic that introduces the first gay character, Kevin Keller. The fact that he was gay was a complete non-issue. There was one quick line about his friends, and how they liked him for who he was and didn't care that he was gay. They don't hit you over the head with it, they just simply state it. The story was about Kevin prepping for a date, and how nervous he was. It was all about being yourself and not trying too hard. So all in all, a typical Archie comic with a nice moral at the end. It could have been about any character, but it happened to be a gay character. I think that's pretty brave, and I don't really see the big deal, or why people are up in arms about it. I have my own issues with Archie (stop playing with Betty and Veronica's hearts, for god's sake...), but this is not one of those issues. Good job, Archie Comics!
